Mark loves learning about new fields and is quick to pick up concepts and technical vocabulary as well as to discover resonant metaphors and other explanatory strategies.

Through working as a freelance writer and as a teacher of writing, Mark has developed strong and varied editing skills. He is able to work within established style guidelines, preserve different voices, offer constructive and sensitive feedback, and help organizations and individuals deepen their writing skills. Mark is comfortable offering formative editing services as well as carrying out final copy editing.

Mark is attentive to aesthetics, information architecture best practices, and the need for readability at a glance. Mark has been responsible for website redesigns and launches, supervised web developers and graphic designers, and has been responsible for ongoing web maintenance for a non-profit event space and an online store.

Mark is responsible for communications and social media for Introspecs and he was Communications Director (2015-16) for Orox Leather Co. He develops  brand identity and persona across social media channels, curates visual content, and engages and grows followers.

VOLUNTEER WORK

Mark wrote and edited the newsletter for Cesar Chavez Elementary School (2015 – 2017) and he is the school’s parent coordinator and fundraiser for Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) (2017 – present).
